Destination Weddings
The idea of a Destination Wedding is not a new one, nor is the idea of taking a Destination Wedding Photographer with you.
Taking your wedding photographer with you is something that a lot of people who get married abroad don’t necessarily consider. It can be seen as an extra expense when there are local photographers to do the job. However, the advantages can certainly outweigh the perceived extra cost.
When booking a photographer for your wedding in the UK, it is advisable to meet with them, discuss their style, view their portfolios and generally get a feel for someone who will, like it or not, be around you and your guests on your big day. So why should this be any different if you’re getting married abroad? Many resorts and companies that can facilitate your wedding abroad will have their own “in-house” Photographers. Whilst these may be good photographically, by the very nature of them being based abroad, they may not be as available to discuss the nuances of your day. There is also the question of what happens after the wedding; how long will it take to see your pictures? How will your album be transported? The after wedding service provided by a photographer can be as important as their performance on the day.
Lensmonkey was booked by Gareth and Rebecca for their destination wedding due to Phil’s experience as a wedding photographer, along with his experience of working abroad as a Television Cameraman. It was a perfect fit. They also knew they could be in contact with Phil & Kate every step of the way, from meeting up to discuss the planning of the day, through to providing a selection of slideshow images for their wedding party back in the UK. With a very intimate wedding planned it was important Phil just blended in with his candid and natural style.
Gareth & Rebecca chose to get married in a very special place. Ca’s Xorc is a charming Boutique Hotel placed in the heart of the Sôller Valley in Mallorca. Built in the 18th Century it has been sympathetically renovated with attention paid to every detail.
Arriving the day before the wedding meant that there was time to meet friends and family as well as fit in a Pre-Wedding shoot.
Set in the mountains of northern Mallorca, Ca’s Xorc hosts a spectacular backdrop for a wedding.
Gareth and Rebecca’s wedding was the first of three destination weddings Lensmonkey photographed. Continue reading to see the post below featuring Lake Garda!
We were fortunate enough to photograph Dave and Laura’s destination wedding in Italy.
Lake Garda was the beautiful backdrop for their special day. Dave and Laura were married at Malcesine Castle, which is situated on Lake Garda in North Italy.
Having arrived a couple of days before the ceremony we had the opportunity to have a pre-wedding shoot on Monte Baldo. The backdrop was just breathtaking.
Following years of planning, the day finally arrived for Dave & Laura.
Transportation for the day was provided in the form of a classic Fiat 500, which was just about the right size to fit through the narrow streets of Malcesine!
The Wedding party and guests had the opportunity to cool down from the 35 degree heat on a boat trip over to nearby Limone. And no day would be complete without a “selfie”!
It was an absolutely awesome few days spent with Dave and Laura, alongside two very talented videographers.
The day was impeccably organised with the planning expertise of Italian Lakes Weddings. They ensured the day ran smoothly and that every detail was covered. For more information visit www.italianlakesweddings.com.
